Ladies and gentlemen, Nguyen Du Memorial Site is located in Tien Dien commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province. Coming to the memorial site, you will have the opportunity to not only admire the wonderful scenery but also learn more about the cultural and historical values ​​associated with the life and career of the great poet Nguyen Du and the Nguyen clan of Tien Dien. The memorial site is a complex of cultural relics, composing of many sites of significance, such as Truong Ninh Pagoda; a shrine dedicated to literature and Confucius; the ancestral shrine of the Nguyen clan of Tien Dien; the altar to Nguyen Quynh (Nguyen Du's grandfather); the shrine and gravesite of Nguyen Nghiem (Nguyen Du's father), Nguyen Trong (Nguyen Du's uncle), and Nguyen Du himself, as well as the Nguyen Du exhibition house. The Nguyen Du exhibition house currently has on display nearly 1,000 valuable original documents and artifacts directly related to the life and career of the great poet Nguyen Du. These include Nguyen Du's penholder, the 1866 woodcut print of the Tale of Kieu, the unique version of the Tale of Kieu written in calligraphy, the longest calligraphy version of the Tale of Kieu in Vietnam, a collection of the Tale of Kieu published in various languages, a collection of books about Nguyen Du, etc. The establishment of the Nguyen Du Memorial Site helps us learn about the origin, formation, and development, as well as the cultural and educational traditions of the Nguyen clan in Tien Dien. It is our wish that visitors recognize the historical significance of the life, career, and contributions of the great poet Nguyen Du and the Nguyen clan in Tien Dien to Vietnamese literature.
